The City of Hollywood is under a number of state and local orders to protect public health and safety and help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Emergency Order from Broward County 

Order Closing all Non-essential Businesses as of 12:01 a.m. 3-23-2020

Restrictions and Closures in the City of Hollywood - Effective 12:01 a.m. today, Monday, March 23, 2020 through the end of the declared local state of emergency:

Non-essential Retail and Commercial Business Locations

All nonessential retail and commercial business locations are ordered closed except to perform the minimum activities necessary to maintain the value of inventory, preserve plant and equipment condition, ensure security, process the business’s own payroll and employee benefits, and facilitate the business’s own employees working remotely. Such businesses must practice, and ensure persons interacting with such businesses practice social distancing and all other measures as advised by the CDC.

The following retail and commercial businesses are deemed essential and may remain open, but must follow social distancing and all other measures as advised by the CDC:

• Healthcare providers and public health operations, including but not limited to: hospitals; doctors’ and dentists’ offices; urgent care centers, clinics, and rehabilitation facilities; physical therapists; mental health professionals; psychiatrists; therapists; research and laboratory services; blood banks, medical cannabis facilities; medical equipment, devices, and other healthcare manufacturers and suppliers; reproductive healthcare providers; eye care centers; home healthcare services providers; substance abuse providers; medical transport services; and pharmacies.
• Grocery stores, farmers’ markets, farm and produce stands, supermarkets, food banks, convenience stores, and other establishments primarily engaged in the retail sale of canned food, dry goods, fresh fruits and vegetables, baby products, pet supply, liquor, fresh or frozen meats, fish, and poultry, and any other household consumer products (such as cleaning and personal care products). This includes stores that sell groceries and also sell other non-grocery products, and products necessary to maintain the safety, sanitation, and essential operations of residences and other structures.
• Businesses engaged in food cultivation, including farming, livestock, and fishing.
• Businesses that provide food, shelter, social services, and other necessities of life for economically disadvantaged or otherwise needy individuals.
• Newspapers, television, radio, and other media services.
• Gas stations, new and used automobile dealerships, and auto-supply, auto-repair, and related facilities.
• Banks and related financial institutions, including insurance firms and pawn shops.
• Hardware, gardening, and building material stores.
• Contractors and other tradesmen, building management and maintenance, home security firms, fire and water damage restoration, public adjusters, appliance repair personnel, exterminators, and other service providers who provide services that are necessary to maintaining the safety, sanitation, and essential operation of residences and other structures.
• Businesses primarily providing mailing, logistics, pick-up, and shipping services, including post office boxes.
• Private colleges, trade schools, and technical colleges, but only as needed to facilitate online or distance learning, perform critical research, or perform essential functions, and university, college, or technical college residence halls, but only to accommodate students who cannot return to their home.
• Laundromats, dry cleaners, and laundry service providers.
• Restaurants and other facilities that prepare and serve food for drive-thru, delivery and take-out per the Governor’s Executive Orders. Schools and other entities that typically provide free food services to students or members of the public on the condition that the food is provided on a pick-up and takeaway basis only. 
• Businesses that primarily supply office products needed for people to work from home.
• Businesses that primarily supply other essential businesses with the support or supplies necessary to operate, and which do not interact with the general public, including cybersecurity firms.
• Businesses that primarily ship or deliver groceries, food, goods, or services directly to residents.
• Airlines, taxis, and other private transportation providers providing transportation services via automobile, truck, boat, bus, or train.
• Businesses engaged in providing home-based care for seniors, adults, or children.
• Assisted living facilities, nursing homes, adult day care centers, and home-based and residential settings for adults, seniors, children, and/or people with disabilities or mental illness.
• Businesses providing professional services, such as legal or accounting services, to the extent those services are necessary to respond to legally mandated activities.
• Landscape and pool care businesses, including residential landscape and pool care services.
• Childcare facilities providing services that enable employees exempted in this Emergency Order to work. To the extent possible, childcare facilities should operate under the following conditions: Childcare must be carried out in stable groups of 10 or fewer (inclusive of childcare providers for the group); children and child care providers must not change from one group to another; if more than one group of children is cared for at one facility, each group must be in a separate room. Groups must not mix or interact with each other. All play equipment used by one group of children must be cleaned and sanitized before use by another group of children. Any child exhibiting symptoms consistent with COVID-19 illness must not be allowed to stay in the childcare facility.
• Businesses operating at any airport, seaport, or other government facility, except as provided in the Governor’s Executive Order 20-71.
• Logistics providers, including warehouses, trucking, consolidators, fumigators, and handlers.
• Telecommunications providers, including sales of computer or telecommunications devices and the provision of home telecommunications.
• Businesses engaged in the provision of propane or natural gas.
• Businesses engaged in the provision of office space and administrative support necessary to perform any of the above-listed activities.
• Open construction sites, irrespective of the type of building.
• Business providing architectural, engineering, or land surveying services.
• Factories, warehouses, manufacturing facilities, bottling plants, or other industrial distribution and supply chain facilities used for essential products and industries for the U.S. domestic market.
• Waste management services, including business engaged primarily in the collection and disposal of waste.
• Private and municipal marinas and boat launches, docking, fueling, marine supply, and other marina services.
• Hotels, motels, other commercial lodging establishments, and temporary vacation rentals, subject to the limitations in the Governor’s Executive Order 20-70. Hotels, motels, and other commercial lodging establishments cannot accept new reservations for persons other than Essential Lodgers which are defined as: (1) healthcare professionals; (2) first responders; (3) National Guard members; (4) law enforcement; (5) state or federal government employees; (6) airline crewmembers; (7) patients; (8) patients’ families; (9) journalists; (10) others providing direct services in response to COVID-19; (11) displaced residents or visitors; (12) persons utilizing hotels as transitional living arrangements; (13) persons sheltering in hotels due to domestic violence; (14) hotel employees, service providers, and contractors; or (15) individuals who, for any reason, are temporarily unable to reside in their home.
• Veterinarians and pet boarding facilities.
• Mortuaries, funeral homes, and cemeteries including funeral and cremation services.
• Firearm and ammunition supply stores.
• Businesses providing services to any local, state, or federal government, pursuant to a contract with such government provided such services relate directly to the COVID-19 crisis.
• Any business that employs five or fewer people, including management/ownership, where the employees do not come in regular contact with the general public in the regular course of business and the business can conduct its business in a manner that complies with the recommended social distancing and other requirements of previous executive orders.
• Electrical production and distribution services.
• Moving, storage, and relocation services.

All retail and commercial businesses may perform remote work so that a businesses’ employees may interact with each other and/or with customers solely through electronic or telephonic means, and deliver services or products via only electronic means or mailing, shipping, or delivery services. 

These restrictions do not affect or limit the operations of Broward County, any public utility, any municipality, the Broward County School District, the North Broward Hospital District, the South Broward Hospital District, any other local government entity in Broward County, or any State or Federal office or facility.
 
The number of persons who may be physically present and performing services on-site related to the operations of an essential business are not limited except as expressly set forth in the Broward County Emergency Order or otherwise governed by any State or Federal order or regulation. All such persons are required to the full extent practicable to operate in full compliance with all measures advised by the CDC including practicing social distancing such as keeping six (6) feet between persons and limiting group size to less than ten (10) people. 

The county-wide order does not limit religious services at any location, but all persons performing or attending religious services are urged to fully comply with all measures advised by the CDC including limiting gatherings to no more than ten (10) people and practicing social distancing of at least six (6) feet between persons.

Restrictions and Closures Currently in Effect in Hollywood

Bars Pubs, Nightclubs, Cocktail Lounges Closed

All bars, pubs, nightclubs, cocktail lounges, breweries, and taverns in the City of Hollywood are closed and must remain closed.
 

Restaurants Open for Drive-Thru, Delivery & Pick-Up Only

All restaurants, cafeterias, and other food service establishments are no longer serving dine-in customers or on premise services. However, such establishments may continue to operate their kitchens for drive-thru, delivery, and curbside pick-up of food orders.

Hollywood Beach, Broadwalk, Parks and Recreational Facilities

All public gatherings of any type, whether organized or otherwise, of greater than 10 persons are prohibited.

Cancellations of City Events and Programs

All City-sponsored events and other programming have been cancelled until further notice. This includes all City programming held indoors within Community Centers, including aftercare programs. All organized athletic leagues, games, races and tournaments held at City recreational facilities will be cancelled until further notice. Sun Shuttle

The Sun Shuttle micro transit system has been suspended until further notice. 

All Building Permits Issued Online

The City of Hollywood is now issuing ALL Building Permits via the ePermit Online Service. Customers are encouraged to use the online system to submit, monitor, pay for building permits and schedule inspections. Hollywood customers can also apply and receive approvals for associated Broward County permits using the County’s ePermitOneStop online service.

Additional closings in Broward County:

• South Florida school districts have announced closures in their response to the growing coronavirus outbreak.

• Broward County Library are closed to the public. Please note the following service changes/adjustments:

  • Pick Up/Check Out Materials: Customers can no longer pick up holds or check out books/other physical materials until the library reopens.

  • Fines: The library will not assess any late fines for materials returned during the library’s closure.

  • Book Drops: Outdoor book drops will remain open during this time period.

  • Holds: All items on hold for customer pick up will be suspended until the library reopens. Customers can still place holds on eBooks and eAudiobooks.

  • Library Cards: While we are temporarily closed, we encourage anyone without a library card to apply for an Instant eCard to get immediate access to the library’s digital collection.

• Broward County Court has been suspended until further notice.

• All local Social Security offices are closed to the public for in-person service. With offices closed, the agency encourages the public to access their services online 

• Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport remains open. Please check with your airline for the latest status update on flights. 

• Port Everglades is open and operational. The Port is working closely with the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Florida Department of Health (FDOH) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Quarantine Station in Miami for any COVID-19 issues that may arise with cruise ships or cargo vessels.
• Broward County Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Sites are closed until further notice
• The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has cancelled all large public gatherings and meetings. The Construction Open House scheduled for Thursday, April 2, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Hollywood Beach Culture and Community Center, located at 1301 S Ocean Drive Hollywood, FL 33019, is postponed until further notice.

Additional cancellations in Broward County:

• Dania Beach Arts and Seafood Celebration (March 28-29) – Postponed until further notice
• Pride of the Americas (April 21-26) – Postponed until Fall 2020
• Inter Miami CF’s home games in Fort Lauderdale (along with all MLS play) suspended until April 12
• Florida Panther Hockey games (along with all NHL games) are suspended indefinitely

Coronavirus Drive-Thru Testing Site at C.B. Smith Park

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
Under the direction of Governor Ron DeSantis, Florida National Guard soldiers and airmen, with the collaboration of Memorial Healthcare System, state, county and local agencies, have opened a COVID-19 drive-thru Community-Based Testing Site. The site is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at C.B. Smith Park, 900 N Flamingo Road in Pembroke Pines, with only the main gate available for entrance into the park. Tests will be provided only to those who are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 and meet the following criteria: 

• First Responders who are symptomatic. This includes policemen, firemen, medical staff and essential staff that support the management agencies working toward keeping the citizens of Florida safe and informed. (Must bring ID)

• People aged 65 or older, with COVID-19 symptoms and chronic conditions. (Must bring ID)

• Individuals who meet the testing criteria: symptomatic, have traveled on an international cruise, by air or from an affected geographic area, or are  immune compromised with symptoms. (Must bring ID)
