The City is investing in resiliency improvements to reconstruct the City's public boat ramp launching area on Polk Street to help address rising tides. The ramps will be closed to the public beginning on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 and will remain closed through Spring 2020. Boaters may consider using one of these alternative launch sites:
Resiliency Improvements to include:
• Raising the ramp elevation• Construction of a storm water retaining area• Relocation of the driveways• Reconstruction and raising of the ramp lot• New Gated entry• New Lighting• Installation of sidewalks & curbing• New landscaping
The estimated project cost is $921,900. To help offset costs, the City applied for and received a Florida Resilient Coastlines Grant in the amount of $400,000 from the Department of Environmental Protection. As mentioned, the ramps and parking lot will be closed to the general public during the duration of the construction. Construction begins on Tuesday, November 12th and is estimated to be completed in Spring 2020.
