THIEVES TARGET HONDAS, ACURAS FOR AIRBAGS:

It can be done in just a matter of minutes. Thieves going from car to car in a crowded parking lot - stealing airbags. They usually target Hondas and Acuras.

We've seen an increase in airbag thefts in the City of Hollywood and across South Florida in the past few months. While the thefts occur city-wide, there are steps you can take to reduce the chances of this happening to you:
* Utilize a lock on your steering wheel
* Utilize a car alarm
* Park in a well-lit location
* Keep your vehicle locked at all times
* Take out your valuables

Prevent airbag thefts

HPD OFFICER SAYS BOYS & GIRLS CLUB HELP SHAPE HER FUTURE:

"I've accomplished a lot in my life, and a huge part of it is thanks to the Boys & Girls Club," said Hollywood Officer Shana Rodriguez.

Officer Rodriguez was recently a guest speaker at a benefit for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County (BGCBC). She took part in a Q&A session with the CEO. (Along with a live performance from Jason Derulo, also a Boys & Girls Club alumnus ...just sayin')

Officer Rodriguez started attending the club when she was 7-years-old after her father passed away. She remained a member until she graduated from high school. Before working for HPD, she worked for the BGCBC in Hollywood as a social rec coordinator. She still volunteers at BGCBC and helps out with special events.
