Employee Benefits

City Employee Benefit Package

The City of Hollywood offers generous benefit packages depending upon applicable employment classifications and employment status. For specific information on the benefits received, please refer to the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Most benefit packages for full time employees include the following:

Eligible employees earn vacation time per year. The amount earned is dependent on the employee’s years of service, classification, and the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Sick Leave

Eligible employees accumulate 12 days of sick leave per year. Eligibility to accrue sick leave begins with the first day of work, and there is no limit on the amount of sick leave that may be accumulated.

Sick Leave Pool Program
Employees may participate in the City's Sick Leave Pool Program upon the completion of one year of employment and with a minimum accumulation of ninety-six (96) hours of sick and/or vacation leave. This program entitles eligible employees to participate in extended sick leave benefits for cases involving non-work related catastrophic, or long-term illnesses, or injuries.

Retirement Plan

Eligible employees are required to participate in the City’s Retirement Plan. This is a defined retirement plan, with a required pre-tax contribution. Contribution amounts vary depending upon employment classification.

Health Insurance Benefit Plans

The City of Hollywood offers the following health insurance benefit plans for eligible employees:
  • Dental Plan
  • Medical Plan (PPO)
  • Prescription Drug
  • Vision Plan

The City of Hollywood is self-funded. The medical, dental, and prescription drug benefits are administered by Florida Blue (Blue Options Plan) and the contributions are payroll deducted on a pre-tax basis. The Vision Plan is a fully insured employee voluntary product.

Flexible Spending Account
Eligible employees can participate in the City’s IRS Section 125 Flexible Spending Account, a way to set aside a portion of pay, before taxes, to pay for qualifying dependent care or medical expenses. Eligible employees receive amounts determined by the employee’s medical enrollment status or if no coverage is elected, then the employee receives the lowest level. The level of the City contribution is re-evaluated once per year. The levels are: Single or no coverage = $200; Employee plus one = $300; and Employee plus two or more = $500. (Part Time employee amounts are different.)
