AUTISM OUTREACH PROGRAM
Hollywood PD is joining forces with our neighboring law enforcement agencies to participate in the Autism Outreach Program.

This program allow our officers to immediately know if they are dispatched to an incident involving someone with Autism. This way, officers county-wide, will be able to adjust their response to a person's sensitivities and any special needs they may have. They will be better able to address their needs in a moment of crisis.

Click the on the image below to fill out the form. By clicking 'submit' the form will be sent directly to a Hollywood Police Department Sergeant. The information will be kept confidential and only made available to officers.

What is Marsy's Law?

To preserve and protect the right of crime victims to achieve justice, ensure a meaningful role throughout the criminal and juvenile justice systems for crime victims, and ensure that crime victims’ rights and interests are respected and protected by law in a manner no less vigorous than protections afforded to criminal defendants and juvenile delinquents, every victim is entitled to the following rights, beginning at the time of his or her victimization. Hollywood Gazette: The Cops, the Homeless Family, the Kind Hotel Manager and a Fresh Start in Hollywood

A few weeks ago, CBS Miami aired a piece called “Community Comes Together To Help Homeless Family Of 7 In Hollywood,” starring some of our favorite people:  Downtown Hollywood Police Officers Dwayne Chung and Anthony Truntz, and Circ Hotel General Manager Kara Lundgren.

These three generous Hollywood citizens met a local family in need and, rather than looking away, they went out of their ways to help.  The Hollywood Gazette sat down with them to learn more about how it all happened. READ MORE HERE

Are Pets Allowed on the Beach?

We promise...we love Fido just as much as you do! But please don't bring him (or any animal, bird or reptiles) to Hollywood Beach, the Broadwalk or public picnic areas. There is one area where dogs are welcome, that is called Dog Beach. Dog Beach is located between Pershing and Custer Streets and is open Monday-Thursday 9AM-5PM, Friday-Sunday 9AM-3PM. A pass is required to use Dog Beach outside of these normal operating hours.

Need more information? You can review the rules and learn more about Dog Beach and the City's other dog parks. Here are all of our other city ordinances.

ONCE A CLUB KID....NOW AN OFFICER

On January 19, 2018 the Florida Panthers honored Wayne Huizenga and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County for their involvement in the community. Officer Shana Rodriguez, who grew up in the Marti Huizenga Club of Hollywood, was asked to speak on behalf of BGCBC for the The Florida Panthers Foundation Community of Champions

"The Boys and Girls Club of Broward County provided a positive environment and instilled morals and values in me that I will forever be grateful for. Through the Club, I had my first ever interaction with an officer..... Officer Greg Saladino, who was our SRO (School Resource Officer). From there, the Hollywood Police Department was continuously involved in a positive way throughout the years. They assisted with special events, donated time, money and toys to the members of the Huizenga Unit. The morals and values instilled in me through the Club are ones that have helped to make me the woman I am today. I believe growing up in the Club contributed greatly to my career choice as I wanted to stay within my community and continue to make an impact. As an officer now, I also have the opportunity to give back to the organization who helped me get to where I am at today." ~ Ofc. Shana Rodriguez.
